Comfort is the target
Setting the controller to its lowest possible temperature does not make every system cool the room instantly. A moderate set point and steady operation can often feel more comfortable than repeatedly switching between very cold and very warm conditions.
Bedrooms may feel different
At night, comfort depends on room temperature, humidity, airflow and bedding. The best bedroom setting is personal, so use the controls to find a comfortable level rather than treating one number as a rule.
Doors, windows and shading matter
Open windows, strong sun and high internal heat loads make the system work harder. Shading, sensible ventilation before cooling and keeping conditioned spaces reasonably closed can all influence comfort.
